Yoga:

Hatha Yoga Class. Suitable for all levels of experience. The class includes mindful movement, breath awareness, breathing work, mindfulness, relaxation and meditation techniques. It is a slower paced class designed to calm, bring focus, improve self-awareness as well as improve mobility and flexibility. 

Chair Yoga:

Chair Yoga is a gentle and accessible form of yoga practiced while seated or using a chair for support. It’s ideal for individuals with limited mobility, balance concerns, or anyone looking for a softer, supportive way to enjoy the benefits of yoga—improving flexibility, strength, and relaxation in a safe and comfortable setting.

Who is this service for?

Our regular yoga class is a floor-based session suitable for beginners. Props and modifications are used to ensure students practice safely at their own level. The posture work includes seated, standing, and supine postures.

Chair Yoga is a gentle, accessible class practiced while seated or using a chair for support. It’s ideal for those with limited mobility, balance challenges, or anyone seeking a softer approach to yoga that still offers physical and mental benefits.

Yoga has many benefits. Its purpose is to unite and bring balance to body, mind, and breath. It works on many levels—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

How can this service help?

Both regular yoga and chair yoga help develop mobility, flexibility, balance, and strength. They improve posture, concentration, and focus, lift mood and energy, and promote calm and centredness while reducing stress.

Yoga also fosters self-awareness, encouraging healthier life choices, and improves breath awareness and quality.

When and where does this take place?

Classes are held twice a month on Fridays at 10am in the wellbeing hall at the Mind Ystradgynlais building. Each month includes one traditional yoga session and one chair yoga session, offering something for everyone.

These Yoga classes have been wonderful for helping me with my mobility issues and mental health. Paula is wonderful at making me feel included in her classes- as I struggle with some movements. I always feel better when I leave! -EJ
